Steve Aoki

Steve Aoki was born on November 30, 1977, in Miami, Florida. He is an American electro house artist recording producer, D.J. and music executive. He is the third of Chizuru and Rocky Aoki's children. His father was a wrestler, and was also instrumental in helping to start the restaurant chain Benihana. He has 2 older siblings: sister Kana (who is often referred to by her middle name Grace) & brother Kevin (owner of Doraku Sushi restaurant). Half-sister Devon Aoki is a model and actress. He grew up in Newport Beach, California & graduated from Newport Harbor High School in 1995, where he was a member of the team for badminton on the varsity. He was a student at UC Santa Barbara and graduated with two B.A. degrees, one of which was in feminist studies & the one in sociology. In the college years, he made do-it-yourself records & ran underground concerts out of his Biko room at the Santa Barbara Student Housing Cooperative. The Pickle Patch was born as a venue for concerts. He was active in student activism , and he founded the Revolutionary Anti-Imperialist League section on campus. In the early 20s, Dim Mak was establishing his own record label known as Dim Mak after his idol from childhood Bruce Lee. He came out with I'm IN THE HOUSE in the year 2000, an album that was co-written with the Zuper Blahq alter ego of will.i.am. The track was ranked No. 29 in the U.K. singles chart in its first week. The song was ranked in the top five in both the U.K. Indie Chart and the U.K. Dance Chart. The song was featured in the MTV show Jersey Shore as well as in the feature film Piranha and the trailer for Think Like A Man. Interviews with HitQuarters in May 2010 with Lucas Secon revealed that Rivers Cuomo and the singer had recently recorded a song together. In 2012, Pollstar designated him as the highest grossing dance artist in North America from tours. He has collaborated with artists like Afrojack and Linkin Park, Afrojack. Linkin Park, Will.i.am. Lil Jon. Blink-182, Laidback Luke. BTS. Louis Tomlinson. Rise Against. Vini Vii & Fall Out Boy. He's known for remixes of artists such as Kid Cudi
