Dolly Rebecca Parton

Dolly Rebecca Parton was born on the 19th of January 1946 in Pittman Center, Tennessee and raised in Sevierville, Tennessee to Avie Lee Parton, a homewife & Robert Lee Parton, a tobacco farmer. She appeared present on Knoxville TV at 12 years old. At the age of 13, she had a recording contract with the label of a small company, and was performing on the Grand Ole Opry. She graduated high school in 1964 and relocated to Nashville for her country music journey. Carl Dean, an asphalt-paving businessman, was drawn to her and they got married on May 30 in 1966. Porter Wagoner saw her singing and asked her to be a guest on The Porter Wagoner Show (1961). The show aired for seven years, her duets became famous, and she was part of Porter Wagoner's band at the Grand Ole Opry. She also sold records and performed on tour. Her smash hit "Joshua", which reached number one in 1970, was her biggest single. She chose to go it alone while she recorded duets with him. The singer had left and became a solo artist in 1974. Dolly was a popular singer/songwriter. Dolly received many Country Music Association awards (1968-70 1971-1972 and 1975-1976 1976). The diminutive (5'0") beauty was a natural on television In the mid-1970s, she was frequently appearing on talk and TV specials shows before getting her own, Dolly (1976). Dolly received her first Grammy award for Best Female Country Vocal Performance in 1977 for "Here You Come Again". Dolly's movie debut was in 9 to 5 (1980) and she earned an Oscar nomination for writing the title track, as well as Grammy Awards 2 and 3: Best Country Song, and Best Female Country Vocal Performance for the track "Nine to Five." Her most well-known role was in The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas (1982) and Rhinestone (1984), where she sang "Tennessee Homesick Blues". She is the founder of Dolly Parton Enterprises, a $100 million media company, and in 1986, she established Dollywood A theme park located in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, to honor her Smoky Mountain childhood. She was a character in Dolly, the Dolly (1987) television series. For "Trio" she was awarded the Best Country Performance Duo or Group with Vocals Grammy in 1988.
