Rachel Anne McAdams
Rachel Anne McAdams is the daughter of
Sandra Kay (Gale), an Ontario nurse, and Lance Frederick McAdams a truck driver
and furniture movers. She was born in London, Ontario on November 17th, 1978.
She is English--, Welsh-, Irishas well as Scottish. Rachel was involved in
acting at the age of 13 and, by 13 she was performing in Shakespearean
productions at summer theater camp. She later went on to graduate with
distinction, earning a BFA degree in Theater at York University. After making
her debut on the Disney's The Famous Jett Jackson (1998) and co-starred on the
Canadian TV show Slings and Arrows (2003), a comedy-drama about the trials and
tribulations of a Shakespearean theatre group. She also got an award called a
Gemini award for her performance in 2003.Her performance as Regina George in
the hit comedy Mean Girls (2004) instantly catapulted her onto the short list
of the top Hollywood's young actors. After that film she was cast alongside
Ryan Gosling in The Notebook (2004). The Notebook was a hit at the box office,
and was soon the top romantic drama for the new generation of movie lovers.
McAdams was introduced to Gosling during filming. They dated through the middle
of 2007. McAdams her next film was the comedy Wedding Crashers (2006), the
action thriller Red Eye (2004), as well as the holiday-themed drama The Family
Stone ((2005)). McAdams also explored independent films with Married Life
(2007) which was screened at the Toronto Film Festival. It also featured Pierce
Brosnan and Chris Cooper, as well as Patricia Clarkson. McAdams starred in The
Lucky Ones (2007) and State of Play (2008), respectively. She also appeared in
the film The Time Traveler's Wife(2009) and Robert Downey Jr. in Guy Ritchie's
international smash Sherlock Holmes (2009). McAdams was the fiery producer of a
failing morning show on TV in Morning Glory (2010), the materialistic fiancee
of Owen Wilson in Woody Allen's Midnight in Paris (2011) as well as a return to
the romantic drama genre in the critically acclaimed film The Vow (2012)
opposite Channing Tatum. McAdams also starred alongside Ben Affleck in Terrence
Malick's To the Wonder (2012) and alongside Noomi Rapace in Brian de Palma's
thriller Passion (2012).In 2005, McAdams received ShoWest's "Supporting
Actress of the Year" Award and the "Breakthrough Actress of the
Year" at the Hollywood Film Awards
